Federal Way Police officers were attempting to locate a suspect, with an outstanding felony warrant from Department of Corrections , on the evening of November 7, 2007.
On the morning of Thursday, November 8th, at approximately 7:15 a.m., Federal Way police officers located the suspect in his vehicle and initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of Southwest Dash Point Road and Southwest 312th Street.
The suspect, Khalif Dean Toms, a black male in his thirties, then fled on foot in the area.
Federal Way Police Department, with the cooperation of the Federal Way Public Schools, requested a lockdown of Adelaide Elementary, Lake Grove Elementary, and Lakota Middle Schools as a safety precaution.
Federal Way Police K-9 Roscoe was called to the area and a perimeter was established. The road to Southwest Dash Point Road was temporarily closed to minimize foot traffic until the suspect was located.
At approximately 9:00 a.m., today the suspect was detained and was arrested without incident.
The lockdowns to each school were lifted and no citizens were injured as a result of this incident.
