Modifying property tax exemption provisions for veterans of the armed forces._In 2007 HB 1102 passed with full support of the House of Representatives, but did not make it out of the Senate. At the start of the 2008 session the House quickly passed HB 1102, again, to amend tax exemptions for military veterans. A veteran with a combined disposable income of $70,000 per year or less would be exempt from some regular property taxes and all excess property taxes. This bill is now back before the Senate.

Extending military leaves for public employees._In 2007, the House passed unanimously HB 1127 to the Senate where no further action or consideration was given. At the start of the 2008 Legislative session the House once again passed with unanimous support to extend military leave of absence for public employees in the National Guard or military reserve force from 15 days per year to 30 days per year.
