deserves buses
Amen to "More buses on Route 37" (published in the July 23 issue of the West Seattle Herald) by M. Gonzales. Metro needs to return to the pre-Eyeman era, when the Route 37 bus ran every hour AND every weekend. After the cutback in response to the disastrous Initiative 695, protesters were promised restoration soon as possible.
It is high time. Currently there are big gaps in #37 service: none between mid-morning and mid-afternoon, none after 7:30 p.m., only two runs on Saturday and NEVER ON SUNDAY.
Route 53 is a pleasant trip but not an adequate substitute: it runs only one way, NEVER ON SUNDAY - never on Saturday either.
West Seattle deserves better. It's time for Metro to go RETRO.
