Next month, Ballard's Snoose Junction plans to open a second location in nearby Greenwood.
Co-owner Mark Ball said the decision to expand "just felt comfortable."
The new location, set for a grand-opening in about three weeks, will be twice as large as the Market Street pizzeria, with 45 seats in the dining area and another 45 in the bar.
"It's a monster," said Ball. "It's a kick-ass restaurant with great pizza."
The new place is at 10406 Holman Avenue, between Holman and Greenwood. It's a newer building, but like with the original location, the inside was gutted and rebuilt with recycled materials, said Ball.
Ball said he and business partner Emily Pickering are considering creating pizza's to be sold in local "green" markets, such as the Ballard Market.
Some restaurants here have fallen on hard times during the economic slump, even resulting in the recent closing of Austin Cantina. But Ball credits his business's success on how "high we hold community values," such as recycling, composting and supporting local schools.
"We're doing pretty well, we are fortunate," said Ball.
