Burien has its own hardware store again.
Ace Hardware opened its doors on Jan. 2 at 14903 Fourth Ave. S.W.
Customer Gene Herke of Burien commented, "It is so nice not having to run to Southcenter for a handful of screws or a ten-cent washer.
"The only thing wrong is the store should be two to three times bigger with more room for building materials. There is no other place in town to buy any."
The store is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The phone number is 206-242-8700.
A grand opening with an appearance by Northwest gardening guru Ed Hume is planned for March 20 through March 22.
Activities will include special sale items, a drawing for a $750 Weber BBQ and complimentary refreshments.
The almost 13,000 square foot store includes a 2,500 square foot garden center. Key product offerings include paint, lawn and garden, hardware, electrical, plumbing, automotive, and home d/cor as well as a large assortment of nuts, bolts and screws.
In 2007 and 2008, the Ace Hardware chain was ranked the "Highest in Customer Satisfaction" among Major Home Improvement Retail Stores" by J.D. Power and Associates in its inaugural study of the retail home improvement industry.
