First it was softball, then chili, and now basketball. Cops and Firefighters are at it again - all for a good cause.
Federal Way Police Officers and South King Fire & Rescue Firefighters will hit the hardwood for a little friendly competition, all to raise money for a good cause.
The big game will take place on Saturday, February 7 at 2 p.m. at Decatur High School, located at 2600 SW 320th St. in Federal Way.
The Federal Way Lions Club is sponsoring the event to celebrate Helen Keller Day. The proceeds will benefit adults and children with sight and hearing needs in the community.
Admission is free, however, a $5 or more donation will get you a Lions King Dog, pop and chips.
"This is an incredible opportunity to raise money for a good cause, not to mention a chance for the two agencies to come together," said Fire Chief Al Church.
Police Chief Brian Wilson agreed with Chief Church and added, "We look forward to participating in the event to raise money for a worthy cause."
The police officers and firefighters have been "battling" it out for years.
In 2001 and again in 2006, both teams competed in the Guns & Hoses Softball Challenge.
"The Guns and Hoses Softball Challenge trophy is proudly displayed in the police department and we look forward to adding another to our collection," said Wilson.
Last year, the two departments put on their aprons and sunglasses to compete in the first ever Farmer's Market Chili Cook-Off.
Coming off the win at the Chili Cook-Off, the firefighters believe they won't have any problem beating the police officers at basketball.
"It will be a slam dunk," said Church.
