Three teams remain undefeated
By Tim Clinton
Call them the undefeated.
Three area teams have yet to taste defeat in the young high school football season after posting victories this weekend.
Ballard's Beavers stand at 2-0 following a 28-19 victory at Mariner of Everett on Friday and the combined team of Mount Rainier and Tyee is 1-0 after a 40-0 shutout win over Jackson of Mill Creek at Highline Memorial.
Kennedy Catholic went out the next night and blew away Bothell by a 41-21 score in a game at Highline Memorial to run its record to 2-0.
Mount Rainier and Tyee is just 1-0 because its opener in Bothell against North Creek was cancelled by a massive lightning storm that rolled through Saturday, Sept. 7.
Kennedy Catholic entered this season as the Seattle Times' No. 5-ranked Class 4A team in the state and perennial powerhouse Bothell as the No. 8.
The Lancers led, 21-14, at the end of the first quarter and 28-14 at halftime.
Bothell closed the gap to 28-21 by the end of the third quarter, but the Lancers dominated the fourth, 13-0.
As good as being undefeated is, all of the local games so far are non-league.
