You’ve felt it before: exhaustion, low energy, fatigue. You’ve also experienced its opposite — days when you’re energized, excited, full of vigor. These are unmistakable realities. And yet, when it comes to working intentionally with the body’s energy system, most of us stop at physical exercise.
We’re more comfortable with the science of energy when it’s framed in biological terms. Food is energy. Calories in, calories out — it's a system we can measure and quantify. We understand that consuming more energy than we expend can lead to weight gain. It's physical, visible, and backed by science.
Yet the moment we begin to talk about “energy work” — tuning into the subtle, often invisible forces within and around us — many people check out. It sounds abstract. Maybe even a little “woo-woo.”
But consider this: just as we can over consume food energy and see tangible changes in our physical body, we can also absorb emotional or energetic weight. Negative experiences, trauma, and stress can disrupt the natural flow of energy in our bodies. These blocks or imbalances often show up as physical limitations or chronic tension. You’ve experienced it, I know you know its true and yet you still may not realize there are solutions. That you’re not trapped to suffer this reality forever.
Our bodies are not just made of flesh and bone — they are made of vibration, frequency, energy. Every process in our bodies, every thought, feeling, or action, is both influenced by and an expression of energy. Nothing in us works — or fails to work — without this force playing a central role. These energy injuries leave scars too. But the cool thing is, it isn’t woo-woo, just like you can exercise you can learn to work with and change it.
Daily life can scramble this energy. What once flowed smoothly can become blocked, chaotic, or incoherent. To restore balance, the body and mind need to be reminded of what coherence feels like. This is where energy work and intentional movement come in — practices designed to realign and reintegrate your system so it can return to its natural, harmonious state.
If you've been struggling with chronic physical or emotional challenges and nothing seems to help, the root cause may be energetic. You’re not stuck — there are ways to understand and release these patterns. To learn more, follow me on Instagram @life_in_the_body, or visit me in person at the Delridge studio, Bend n Move.
