Joseph Patrick Moore 1923-2013

Born February 16, 1923 in Seattle, WA; died February 5, 2013 in Shoreline, WA.

Joe served in WWII, in the South Pacific on the USS MADDOX Destroyer as a Sonarman Third Class until October, 1945. He worked as an electrician until he joined the Seattle Police Department in 1956. His last 10 years were as a foot patrolman in the “Junction” in West Seattle. He retired in the summer of 1983.

He and his wife, Edith Troutman Moore, who passed away in November 2005, were long time residents of the Admiral area. Joe was a loving and caring husband to Edith, a proud step-father to Edith’s only son, Lyle Michel, and supportive to his step-grandchildren, Kevin (Kari), Keith and Kurt.

Throughout his illness he exhibited patience and fortitude in the face of ever developing problems. Yet he never lost his sense of humor, or his will to live. And the sounds and touch of a woman always put a smile on his face.

Funeral Mass was celebrated February 18th at St. Luke Catholic Church in Shoreline; interment, Calvary Cemetery.
