Elizabeth Rue (Preston) KREITINGER 1922-2013

July 3, 1922 ~ December 17, 2013

Betty Rue grew up on Queen Anne Hill, Seattle, WA. She graduated from the University of Washington where she was a Tri-Delta Sorority member.

She married Dick Kreitinger in 1943 and moved to West Seattle where they raised their family. Betty was active in Visiting Nurses/Vision Screening, PTA and a longtime member of the West Seattle YMCA for which she helped raise building funds. She especially enjoyed meeting new people and doing water aerobics, up until age 90.

Betty traveled to many exotic locations and even hiked up to Everest Base Camp in her sixties. When travel became difficult she turned to her lifetime love of music, attending Seattle Symphony concerts, Youth Symphonies and the Opera. She was an accomplished pianist for most of her life.

As matriarch of a large and loving family she will be greatly missed, especially for her unfailing optimism and beautiful smile.

Predeceased by her husband Dick, Betty is survived by daughters Carri Singer (John) of Vashon and Barbara Bradfield (Peter) of Seattle, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A memorial gathering is planned for December 28th, 2-4 p.m. at the Fauntleroy Hall in West Seattle. Burial will be on Vashon Island.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Seattle Symphony Education Programs which benefit school children and community programs.
