Joan May (Parkin) HENSTONE 1932-2014

On August 18, 2014, Joan Henstone peacefully made her final journey home, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born November 7, 1932 in Seattle, Washington, where she lived her entire life. She graduated from West Seattle High School in 1951. She retired from Seattle City Light in 1999.

Joan had compassion for kids, animals, and gardening. She enjoyed long walks and nature. Yes, she is one that took time to stop and smell the roses.

Joan is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Bills (Kelly), and granddaughter, Kelsey; son, Keith, and Henstone grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Mark Parkin (Helen); and Parkin nieces and nephews.
We will miss her spunk and that little twinkle in her eye.

“Those we love don’t go away. They walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear.”

A private celebration of life will be held. Remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
