David Cameron PEELER 1925-2014

Born September 19, 1925, David Peeler passed away June 11, 2014 following hip surgery.

Dave grew up in Bremerton, Washington, He loved hiking and camping in the Olympics with his dad, Cameron Peeler, and his best friend, Jack Jones. He joined the navy after high school, serving in the Pacific during WWII.

In 1947, Dave married Beth Jones. He went to work in the yard and later as a truck driver for Shell Oil on Harbor Island, Seattle, where he worked for 38 years.

The family lived in the Delridge area for about 10 years, then moved to a larger home in West Seattle in 1959. Dave was a coach and umpire for Pee-Wee League and attended his five children’s sporting and band events whenever possible. The family went camping and fishing often, instilling a love of the outdoors in the kids.

Upon retirement in 1985, Dave and Beth moved to the Renton Highlands and remained the hub of family gatherings. They took trips around the western states, Canada and Mexico. An avid Mariners fan, Dave enjoyed Mariners spring training.

Dave is survived by his loving wife, Beth; children, Sue (John) Main, Dave (Maria) Peeler, Al (Shannon) Peeler, Jack Peeler and Don (Dawn) Peeler; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Ruth (Walt) Ruef, Wilma (Carl) Rehberg and Juanita Hall, and brother-in-law, Don (Glennie) Jones. We will all miss him!
Dave’s ashes were placed in Wall A at Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, WA. A celebration of Dave’s life is planned for Saturday, September 20, 2014, 1-5 pm, at the Renton Eagles Hall.
