Rawley Leonides YOUNG 1931-2014

A 44 year West Seattle resident, Rawley Young passed away April 25, 2014 after battling a progressive dementia. He was born Nov. 19, 1931 in Lomira, Wisconsin to Leonidas and Erna Kuehn Young.

Rawley served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict and then attended the Colorado School of Mines, graduating with a degree in Geophysical Engineering. In 1970, he accepted an engineering position with the Boeing Company and moved to West Seattle. After 30 years with Boeing, he retired as an acoustics engineer.

An avid reader, Rawley was a man of varied interests who loved the mental stimulation of studying and educating himself in many subjects such as ham radio, hunting, theology music, electronics, etc.

He was a devoted father and enjoyed taking part in activities with his children as they grew up. He had a positive and lasting influence on many people and frequently befriended those in need. Generous in spirit to all, he took joy in sharing with others.

Rawley is survived by his wife of 52 years, Margaret Haworth Young; four children, Meg Bullen (Graeme), Stephen Young (Franca), David Young (Roberta) and Thomas Young (Jennifer); and seven grandchildren.
