The Gators captured sixth place in the team standings at the recent Everett Classic, scoring 121.5 points.

Greg Bull won the 135-pound championship match by pin in 1:41. Spencer Kabelec came in second at 145 pounds with a loss by pin in 1:41. Teammate Tevyn Tillman won the 285-pound final, 4-2.

Close bouts highlight Gator wrestling win

The Thomas Jefferson Raiders wrestlers won two mighty close battles -- the down-to-the-wire, firey finish, even controversial, kind. But the host Decatur Gators showed their seniority at key points through the match and won the war, 41-29, in South Puget Sound League North action Thursday.

"TJ is a tough team," said Gators head coach Mike Bressler. "I knew all along this was going to be a battle. I just tried to prepare my kids. Jess (Workman) is a good coach. And they're not done.

Blue Island Sushi is an interesting place for lunch, especially if you like to watch your food glide around the room on a little conveyor belt onto which Sushi chefs expertly chop, roll and plop new selections.

Opponents of the strong mayor initiative ask "Why tamper with something that has been proven to work?"

Did any one read the front-page article in the 12/6/07 Tacoma News Tribune, "City sells land for massive towers," regarding the incredibly huge project to begin in our core area? Before this project was written in stone, does any one recall hearing about United Properties (the builder) being in litigation for building several leaky condos?

Beverley Irene Burtch

Beverley Irene Burtch was born in Butte, Montana to Russell and Sophie Morrison on June 29, 1924. She died on January 16, 2008 in Seattle. Beverley was the beloved wife of 49 years of Charles Burtch, sister of Margaret Breen (of Butte, Mont.) and mother of Deeann Puffert and husband Rich (of Seattle), and Gary Burtch and wife Heather (of Pittsburgh, Pa.). She took great joy in her four grandchildren Grace and Laurel Puffert, and Kelly and Luke Burtch. Beverley loved community service, especially when it involved children and youth.

Ronald Kay Kenny

Ronald Kay Kenny, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving children on January 6, 2008. He was born to Edward and Mildred Kenny on March 15, 1935. He was a lifetime resident of West Seattle, graduated from West Seattle High School and was an active member of the Masons and Shriners.
