West Seattle's Lisa Coronado appearing on Twin Peaks series return

The return this past May of the mysterious David Lynch helmed television series Twin Peaks was met with high expectations. The original series debuted in 1990, and while it lasted only two seasons achieved cult status and has often been listed as among the greatest television dramas of all time. Now a West Seattle based actress, Lisa Coronado is among those appearing in the show.

The new series, appearing on Showtime on Sunday evenings at 9pm features most of the same actors from the original series including Kyle MacLachlan, Mädchen Amick, Sherilyn Fenn, Sheryl Lee, Ray Wise, and several others. New additions include Monica Bellucci, Jeremy Davies, Trent Reznor, Laura Dern, Robert Forster, Tim Roth, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Ashley Judd, Tom Sizemore, Amanda Seyfried, Matthew Lillard, Sky Ferreira and Naomi Watts.

Man shot to death in Burien after threatening homeowner, officers with knife

Shortly before midnight on June 13th, 2017, King County Sheriff 911 received multiple calls regarding shots being fired in the 13600 Blk of 3rd Ave S in Burien Wa.

As Deputies were responding, a homeowner from the area called to report that he had fired a warning shot at a man who had advanced on him while holding what he thought was a knife. The homeowner told 911 that just prior to him firing the warning shot, his friend had come to his door and was yelling that someone was chasing him with a knife. The homeowner armed himself with a handgun and went outside to see what was happening.

Susan Gay Moore

1956 - 2016

Susan Gay Moore, 60, of Seattle, WA, passed away at home on December 19, 2016. Susan Geary, affectionately called Sue or Susie, was born on March 7, 1956. She was the third child, and second daughter, born to Gerald and Mildred Geary.

Susan held many jobs, from working at Skippers, to Kmart and Sears. She finally found her for-ever job, at Larson-Juhl. There, she performed many duties, including billing, picking out mat boards and cutting frames.

Susan loved to read. When she wasn't busy working, or spending time with family, she could often be found with a book in her hand. Most weekends were spent at the library, where she would check out at least 5 books; only to read them all in days.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Mark Edward Moore. She is survived by her three children: Eric Hopper, Danielle Ellis, and Kelsey Moore; three grandchildren: Ynez Hopper, Damon Hopper and Holly Ellis, as well as two brothers and four sisters.

Susan was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She is greatly missed and will never be forgotten.

Restoration of the art-deco underwater murals of West Seattle’s Historic Admiral Theater will get a boost this summer with a one-night screening of a documentary that showcases a project by local students to salute the black baseball barnstorming phenomenon of the early 20th century.

“Legends of the Road,” a feature-length, student-produced film, will be screened at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at the Historic Admiral Theater, 2343 California Ave. S.W., sponsored by the Southwest Seattle Historical Society.

The film, which won the highest audience rating at the 2017 Kansas City Film Festival in April, will be introduced by Bob Kendrick, president of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City, and former teacher Gary Thomsen of West Seattle, who led the “Legends” project at Chief Sealth High School.

Gunshot and car chase in West Seattle ends in arrest

A deputy sitting in his patrol car with his windows rolled down heard a gunshot near SW 107 ST and 15 Ave SW.

The deputy then observed a suspicious vehicle in the area and drove behind it. The vehicle took off and the deputy activated his emergency vehicle equipment.

The driver failed to stop for the deputy. The pursuit lasted just over a minute before the suspect crashed his vehicle and fled on foot. K-9 was able to successfully locate the suspect about 4 blocks from the accident.

Bullets were found on the suspect. A bomb dog is currently searching for evidence. The suspect was treated at the scene by medics and booked into jail. No other citizens were injured.

During the incident South Seattle Community College was in lock down for safety. The school has since been reopened.

Camp Philosophy
This is the 3rd year of the Soccer Skills Camp. Modelled after our long-standing basketball skills camp, now in its 18th year, the philosophy of the camp is to provide a positive and fun learning experience to youth by exposing them to the fundamentals of soccer and life, including the values and qualities that we feel are necessary to be successful in these arenas.

The camp will focus on three pillars, 1) skill development, 2) teamwork and leadership, and 3) life values and traits. We at Chief Sealth feel that in order to truly be successful student-athletes we must work equally in all three areas.
