West Seattle Chamber of Commerce asks public to vote between two design options

information from West Seattle Chamber of Commerce

For more than two decades, the “Welcome to West Seattle” sign along the Fauntleroy Expressway has served as a beacon for newcomers and long-timers alike. Today, sign continues to greet thousands of motorists and transit riders every day, but its original wooden structure is threatened, and the surrounding hillside provides a continual landscaping challenge.

West Seattle stops Sammamish in state semis

By Tim Clinton

SPORTS EDITOR

SEDRO WOOLLY--West Seattle won again in the state Major Little League baseball all-star tournament Tuesday, this time in a winner's bracket semifinal.

The Westsiders were 5-1 winners over Sammamish to advance them to Thursday's 4 p.m. winner's bracket final against either Auburn or Pacific back in Sedro Woolley.

Thursday's winner advances straight to Saturday's 12 p.m. provisional championship and would need to lose twice to not take the title.

The loser plays in Friday's loser's bracket final and needs to win that and two championship games to win state.

The state Majors age 10-12 champion advances to the Western Regional tournament in San Bernardino, Calif. to play for a berth in the World Series in Williamsport, Penn.

West Seattle won state at age 9-11 last year but the champion does not advance at that level.
