SDOT will be paving a section of Roxbury Street soon

The two blocks between 16th SW and 18th SW will be resurfaced in the next couple of weeks

In coordination with the West Seattle High Bridge closure, we will be paving SW Roxbury St between 16th Ave SW and 18th Ave SW before the end of May 2020. This paving work will help keep traffic moving safely and smoothly in the Roxbury neighborhood.

Since the emergency closure of the West Seattle High-Rise Bridge on March 23, 2020, we have made clear through action and deed that public safety, consistent communication, and transparency are foundational to our teams and partners. We are working with great urgency to chart the path forward for the high bridge.

Lowell (“Butch”) Albert Mullins

Butch passed away on May 12, 2020. He was born in Detroit, MI to James and Anne Mullins.  He is survived by his loving partner Barb, his mother, and by three younger brothers: James, Floyd, and John, and four sisters: Barbara, Nora, Frances, and Evelyn.  He graduated from Evergreen High School in 1973. He served six years in the Army. 

 

He loved his metal fabricating job at Capital Industries. His life's passion was fishing and the outdoors. He loved telling stories. Butch loved to tinker and fix all sorts of things, including making tons of fishing flies.  

 

Elva May Kuch

Elva May Kuch passed away on April 27, 2020 at 7:30am.

She was born in Bremerton, WA on October 27, 1930 to Albert Luxton and Lola Murphy Luxton.  She lived in various towns growing up…. Bremerton, Tahuah, Astoria…  but mostly on the west side of Puget Sound.  Her mother died early in her life, and she was adopted by her stepmom Alice Castle Luxton. She had two sisters, Myrna LaFazia and Grace Ashe.  

44 unit efficiency apartment building proposed for Yancy Street SW; No parking proposed

A Land Use application has been filed with the Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections and given the conditional go ahead to allow a 3-story apartment building with 44 small efficiency dwelling units to be built at 2821 SW Yancy through 2829 SW Yancy Street. No parking proposed. The existing building will be demolished. It is project 3032410-LU. Administrative Design Review conducted under #3032038-EG.

The project has been in concept and design phase since 2018.

Appeals of this decision must be received by the Hearing Examiner no later than 06/01/2020.

Burien Actors Theater 2020 season will happen online

I think this goes without saying, that these are difficult times. However, no matter how isolating social distancing feels, even in tough times there are always things to look to for comfort. Things that take our mind off of our current situation, or at least give some sense of normalcy.

This is where the Burien Actors Theatre steps up to rescue us all from our collective quarantine induced boredom.
