Shots damage windows on Harbor Ave SW building; No one hurt

At least 13 shots were fired from the parking lot at the Don Armeni boat launch on Wednesday night just before midnight, destroying at least six windows and damaging two others in the building at 1307 Harbor Ave. SW. 

The parking lot that had been closed during the summer months is now open.

Glass from the windows on the fourth floor fell to the street, No one was injured.

Harbor Ave SW was briefly closed for an investigation.

The building owned by YMSA is an entity of Youngone Corp. of South Korea, a manufacturer and distributor of sports gear and outdoor apparel.

Northwest Seaport Alliance sees metrics dip in late August, tariff case looms

The Northwest Seaport Alliance (NWSA), encompassing the ports of Seattle and Tacoma, reported a general downturn in its weekly volumes and metrics for the final full week of August, with most key indicators showing declines. The data, released in its September 10, 2025, Weekly Volumes & Metrics Report, indicated a continuation of week-over-week fluctuations, though truck transactions provided a solitary bright spot.

International imports for the week ending August 29 were down 26% from the prior week and 18.6% compared to the August 2024 weekly average. A total of 12,688 containers were imported during this period, which is 1.3% less than the 2025 year-to-date average and 6.7% below the 2024 weekly average.

Romance on Alki Beach wins the day, and a woman's heart

People driving on Alki Ave SW on Wednesday night were slowing down and people strolling by were stopping at an unusual sight. On the sand stood a large scale heart outline made of fresh roses with pillows, a blanket, electric candles, a bottle of Martinelli's cider, cake, and most importantly, the words BE MY GIRLFRIEND spelled out in illuminated letters.

Shooting leads to abandoned chase, gun recovery and an arrest

At 11:41pm on Tuesday, patrol responded to a report of property damage in progress with possible shots fired in the 7900 block of 9 Ave SW.

Officers arrived to a chaotic scene with opposing stories being reported with suspects possibly having fled in a vehicle. This vehicle was located and a brief pursuit was initiated until involvement information was determined to terminate the pursuit.

Despite conflicting reports, investigating officers determined that a shooting had occurred and conducted a community caretaking search of the home. A male located hiding inside during this search was found to have a protection order with one of the involved parties.

Evidence suggested that the shooting likely originated from inside the home.

Consent was granted by the homeowner and a handgun consistent with the evidence was found hidden inside.

Seattle prepares for crucial comprehensive plan hearing; Council weighs over 100 amendments

Seattle's future development and growth are at the forefront as the City Council prepares for a major public hearing on September 12 regarding the proposed "One Seattle Plan," a significant update to the city's Comprehensive Plan. This 20-year vision guides decisions on housing, jobs, transportation, utilities, parks, and other public assets. The Council's Select Committee on the Comprehensive Plan, chaired by Councilmember Joy Hollingsworth and comprising all nine Councilmembers, is currently reviewing the proposal.

UPDATE: Subject in stolen boat trailer incident reports his truck was stolen from impound

Update Wednesday 11:45am

In yet another twist of fate, Daniel Hanes, who was involved in the theft of the boat trailer, and subsequently released by Seattle Police, had his own truck stolen from the Lincoln Towing impound lot on 1st Ave South, Hanes said. He said he went to get the truck on Tuesday and they told him the truck had been stolen sometime after it was towed at the order of the Seattle Police Department. It's a gray Chevrolet Silverado with a crew cab and tool box. A police report was filed and Hanes said he would pursue several means of either getting his truck back or getting compensation for its loss. If you spot the truck you are urged to call 911.
