Burglar enters through basement
Officers received a call around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 5 from a homeowner in the 800 block of NW 58 St. The man said he left at 6:30 a.m. and received a call around 2:30 p.m. that his basement door was broken. He came home to find that the door was kicked off its hinges and lying on the floor inside. His neighbor helped him secure the door. Otherwise the basement seemed untouched. He did notice that some items were missing from his living room and bedroom, including a laptop, a gold ring, a silver ring and headphones. His dog was home at the time and appeared unharmed. Officers photographed the damage for evidence.
Business broken into on Holman Rd
The front door was kicked in and the glass broken at a business in the 9700 block of Holman Rd. NW. Officers arrive on the scene around 5:20 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 4 to investigate. They found a rock and screwdriver outside that they placed into evidence. A cash register had been stolen from the front desk. A maintenance man arrived at the business and called the owner. Officers left a business card so the owner could follow up with them. There were multiple camera inside and officers asked the business owner to bring security footage.
Attempted burglary on Leary Way
A witness to an attempted burglary called police around 2:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 4. She said that a suspect was trying to break into a business located in the 5400 block of Leary Ave NW. He was using a pick and hammer and had a woman acting as lookout. The witness told officers that the suspect was in a tan SUV but she was unable to see the license plate. Officers searched the area for the suspects but were unable to find them.
Break-in at construction site
Police received a call around noon on Tuesday, Dec. 5 to report a break-in at a building under construction in the 13000 block of 8 Ave NW. The victim was not certain if he had locked the rear sliding glass door or not. There was no damage to the exterior of the building, and nothing was stolen. The victim did find a blanket and backpack upstairs that did not belong to his crew.
Carport burglarized on NW 64 St.
A battery powered weed eater, battery and charger were stolen from a carport located in the2400 block of NW 64 St. The crime was reported around 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3. There were no suspects, and no evidence was found. This is the third theft reported at this residence in the past year.
