Davis derailed Kennedy Catholic's state championship dreams Friday by a 57-38 score in a Class 4A girls basketball semifinal at the Tacoma Dome.
The Lancers of Burien head south for a fourth consecutive day Saturday, playing in the game for third and fifth place at 11:15 a.m.
Davis, which came in as the No. 1 seed at state, wasted no time in taking the lead for good Friday, jumping out to a 4-0 advantage and never trailing.
Jayden Fitzgerald put the Lancers on the scoreboard by stepping underneath for a basketball with 5:49 to play in the first quarter, but Davis answered right away to make it a 6-2 game.
Fitzgerald cut the lead to 6-4 with a pair of free throws at 3:46, then answered a Davis 3-point basket with a trey of her own to make it 9-7.
The Pirates took a 13-7 lead by the end of the first quarter and widened it to 16-7 early in the second quarter.
Kennedy Catholic cut it to 18-12 at the 6:01 mark on a Paige Nadarski 3-pointer, but trailed by a 29-19 margin at halftime.
It was a 44-32 game at the end of the third quarter before the Pirates pulled farther away in the fourth quarter.
Fitzgerald finished with 18 points for the Lancers as Kat Schroeder scored eight, Nadarski seven and Gabriela King five.
Fitzgerald also led with seven rebounds and King hauled down five. Fitzgerald added a team-high two steals.
Deets Parish led a balanced Davis attack with 15 points.
The Pirates play for the state title at 5 p.m. Saturday.
