Unhappy when three men jaywalked in front of his car on Sunday afternoon (and then told him to “F” off), a driver stopped to “talk” with the men, who had entered a convenience store near 8th and 85th. One of the suspects threw a punch, and then another blindsided the victim, who fell to his knees. The suspects then kicked him and ran down an alley when witnesses tried to intercede. The suspects were later arrested and booked into King County Jail for investigation of misdemeanor assault.
On Monday, May 25, officers were sent to Alderbrook Place to see a man who called 911 to turn himself in because he was “wanted by police.” When officers arrived, the 25-year-old explained that he was wanted for a crime because he had had sex with five girls back when he was in high school. Officers asked if it had been consensual. The man replied that it had been. Concerned for the man's mental wellbeing, officers asked if he wanted to speak with a counselor or doctor about the events, but he declined. At the man's request, officers took a statement about the past incidents.
A 90-year-old called 911 to ask that officers check on her Ballard home. (For obvious reasons, no location will be provided.) Since she was mugged last year, she has lived in the south end, and her house has been unsecured. Officers visited the home and noticed that the front door was unlocked, the back door was broken, and that piles of personal items were stacked waist-high. Only a narrow trench allowed them to move from room to room. A neighbor came over to express his concerns, saying that he's been keeping an eye on the place but can't continue to do so. The officer's report states that the woman needs to get some help, from Adult Services, for example, if she is unable to make decisions about caring for her property.
Early Sunday at a Market Street bar, a woman didn't appreciate it when her ex-boyfriend (who also happened to be at the venue) took away her drink. She admitted to officers that she had taken a “swing” at him, but that she wasn't sure if it had connected or not. The officers were pretty sure it had, considering that the victim had a grossly swollen lip. The woman was booked into King County Jail for investigation of domestic violence assault.
Monday afternoon, a woman left her home in the 1000 block of Northwest 67th to go for a drive. When she returned an hour later, she discovered that her television had been stolen from the living room.
Late Sunday, May 24, a 57-year-old man was assaulted near 15th Northwest and Northwest 65th by two men who demanded his wallet. The victim was pushed to the ground and hit and kicked repeatedly, but was able to make it to a nearby fire station for treatment. He struggled to answer questions, couldn't concentrate, and couldn't describe the suspects. He was transported to Swedish Ballard advised to make a report if he was able to remember additional details in the future.
