Police Blotter: Man attacked and robbed by multiple assailants; man just released from jail finds home trashed

4:00 a.m. on March 28th. 90th block of Holman Rd. N.W.
A man was attacked and robbed on March 28th as he walked to his car after closing his business for the day. The victim was carrying the night’s proceeds when an unknown person struck him from behind, knocking him to the ground. Approximately 3-4 individuals then began kicking and punching him. The victim attempted to fight back, grabbing one assailant’s hair. The suspects stole the bank bag as well as the victim’s wedding ring and wallet and then fled the scene. The victim dragged himself to his car and lost consciousness for about an hour. He then drove himself home. The victim suffered a laceration above his left eye, as well as bruising and swelling to his left shoulder, right eye and cheek, and abrasions on both knees. He was unable to get a good look at the suspects.
1:34 a.m. on March 26th. 70th block of 21st Ave. N.W.
The victims returned home late on the night of March 25th to find one of their computers and a PlayStation 3 missing. They then discovered that their back door was ajar and that several dresser and kitchen drawers had been searched. Police determined that the suspect pried open the back door, taking electronics, CDs, video games, cash, and coins. No fingerprints were found.
2:06 p.m. on March 25th. 85th block of 29th Ave. N.W.
A woman’s home was burglarized on March 25th while she was away for most of the day. The victim became aware that her house had been broken into when she found her cat inside and noticed that several closet doors were open. The burglar(s) removed a window screen in the den and crawled in through the window. The suspect(s) then went through several drawers and cabinets, taking old medicine and some antique silverware. No fingerprints were found.
1 p.m. on March 25th. 36th block of Leary Way N.W.
A man returned home from jail on March 25th to find most of his property thrown out the window and onto the sidewalk. The incident occurred sometime between when victim was arrested on March 23rd for unrelated reasons and when he returned home on the 25th. The victim told police that other tenants of the building had said that one resident was attempting to sell the victim’s electronics, but he did not know if this individual was behind the removal of the belongings. The victim also reported that he was behind on his rent and believed that the owner of the building had authorized someone to remove his possessions in order to evict him. He reported that his door had no lock on it, meaning that his room was accessible while he was in jail.
5:39 p.m. on March 24th. 10th block of 85th St. N.W.
The resident of an apartment complex on 85th St. left her apartment to find that the building’s mailboxes were damaged from being pried open. There were also pry marks on the door leading into the building and the door leading to the garage area. No one was found at the scene.
