Robert Benjamin DICKEY 1916-2012

Robert Dickey, 95, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2012 at Wesley Gardens in Des Moines, Washington.
Robert was born in Forest Grove, Oregon, November 30, 1916 to Benjamin and Myrtle Dickey. He married Marjorie Busch October 26, 1940 in Forest Grove, OR. Shortly afterwards they moved to Seattle, WA.

In 1940, Robert began his 41 year career at Kenworth Motor Truck Company. Starting in the sheet metal shop, he eventually became a well respected Engineer and Project Manager. He is noted as the inventor of the Sleeper Cab, and holds four separate patents related to Kenworth trucks.

One of his greatest joys was driving and camping with family and friends throughout the United States. He and Marjorie took many trips overseas and spent many months traveling in their motor home. He took thousand of photos and enjoyed producing "slide shows" of the trips for all to see.

He was proud member of the Society of Automotive Engineers. He was a member of the board of trustees for First United Methodist Church and Bayview Manor for many years.

Robert is survived by his wife of 71 years, Marjorie Dickey; son Ralph (Margaret), grandsons Sean and Paul; son Charlie (Barbara); daughter Susan (Tap), grandsons David and Daniel; and daughter Barbara. He was predeceased by his younger brother, Don Dickey.

Memorial services will be held at Wesley Homes, 815 South 216th, Des Moines, WA, August 18, 2012, 2 PM.
