Margaret “Marge” Joyce GAUTHIER 1932-2012

March 20, 1932 ~ November 15, 2012

Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Margaret Joyce Gauthier, sadly passed away November 15, 2012 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born March 20, 1932 in Seldovia, Alaska one of six children. In her childhood she attended boarding school at St. Mary’s Academy, Toledo, Washington, became an expert marksman, worked in the family cannery and took her first airplane ride to get eyeglasses in Anchorage.

In 1950 Marge moved to Seattle and met the love of her life, Edmund. They married August 2, 1961 and made their home in West Seattle for over 60 years. Marge valued public service. She was both President and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the F.O.E. West Seattle Eagles for more than 40 years, crocheted baby afghans for the nursery at Providence Hospital, and donated time and resources to numerous other community charities.

She was proud of her Boeing career, enjoyed occasionally playing bass guitar in the Bulldozer’s band, but most important was being a homemaker. She was a wonderful cook and baker, and she loved time with her family, especially during the holidays.

Predeceased by her husband, Edmund, in 1996, Marge is survived by her son, Robert Gauthier, daughter-in-law, Cindy, their children, Bryan and Kathleen, and her daughter, Pamela Plancich, son-in-law, Gordon, their children, Stephanie, Jamie, and Kimberly; three great-grandchildren, Cheyenne, Emily, and Brayden; niece, Laurie McDougall and family; and her beloved companion, Zip.
