Pierre was born in the French city of Nantes. He completed his apprenticeship and became a tool maker and machinist. The French Navy required his attendance for a brief time prior to the German occupation during WWII. Then immigrating to Canada in the 1950’s, onward to Buffalo, NY where he married his lovely French wife of 50 years, Madeleine.
The excitement of travel was a lifelong passion for both. He took pride in the fact that Madeleine could pack all their belongings and move on to their next location in a day’s time. They skated across the United States working and living in different areas. He landed in Seattle for a job at Boeing. Once he arrived he planted his roots, awestruck with the beauty in this area. The mountains and forests combined with the water, was the complete package. He always commented to those that have traveled, “Don’t you think the Northwest is the most beautiful area in ALL of the United States?” With an endless circle of friends, Pierre and Madeleine added a special spark and uniqueness to any gathering. He was politically active and always enjoyed discussions combined with good food and a glass of wine.
World Cavalcade presentations led to years of world exploration. Hawaii, China, extensive travel in Europe, Cuba and South America plus a trip on the Trans-Siberian railroad provided many experiences and memories. Pierre loved to tell stories of his travels and kept many folks intrigued and laughing.
Pierre’s sister came to visit. They met in New York and proceeded to drive through the Southern part of the United States enjoying the music of Dixieland bands and good Southern food.
An avid reader, friends suggested new titles which he eagerly consumed and then used as conversation topics. He enjoyed historical books, especially about political figures and the mafia. ‘Bonnie and Clyde’ was his all time favorite movie.
As health challenges limited Pierre, visits with friends became very meaningful. Weekly lunch with his friend Sharon was always on the calendar, as well as his Friday night drinks with his friend Ross and the opportunity for “male bonding.”
Pierre is survived by his sister, Juliette Roulleau (Claude) and numerous nieces and nephews. Donations in honor of Pierre’s life can be made to the American Heart Association.
