Elizabeth V. FINNIE 1926-2012

Elizabeth V. FINNIE
Elizabeth Finnie, 86, of West Seattle, passed away at home November 22, 2012. She was born January 26, 1926 in Paauhau, Hawaii (Big Island) to Ramon and Moncha Ortiz. Early in Elizabeth's life she had polio which affected her walking, but she never let this keep her from achieving her goals in life.

She attended Peterson Business School in Seattle, WA and the skills she learned there allowed her to be employed by the City of Seattle as an Administrative Assistant in the Fleet Service Dept. She worked there for 13 years until her retirement in 1984.

As she got older Elizabeth had to use both a walker and a wheelchair and because of having had polio, her physical problems got worse. She was confined to bed for the past 4 years and during this time her husband was her primary caretaker. She also had Group Health Home Care and just prior to her death she was in the Group Health Hospice Program.

Elizabeth and her husband, Dick, were married 50 years. On December 11, 2011 they renewed their wedding vows in the Catholic faith with their son, Scott, as best man at this ceremony.
She is survived at home by her husband, Dick, and son, Scott. Elizabeth had four siblings, and her one surviving sister, Carmen, lives in Hawaii. She has many other relatives and friends living in CA, WI, WA, UT, and HI.

Elizabeth has been cremated and her memorial service will be held at a later date. Elizabeth loved animals and had a dog and many cats during her life. Any donations in her memory may be directed to PAWS, The Seattle Animal Shelter, The Seattle Humane Society, or other programs of your choice. Please say a prayer for Elizabeth.

“Elizabeth, we loved you so much and someday we will all be together again as God has promised,” Dick and Scott.
