James Paul Lee 1923 ~ 2013

James (Jim) Lee, 89, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2013 from complications of heart failure. He was born May 12, 1923 in Omaha, NE to Clara and Lancelot Lee. Jim was predeceased by his three sisters, Cora Lee Curtis, Mary Blechschmidt and Pauline Corliss. At the age of six, his family moved from Omaha to Rochester, WA. He attended schools in Rochester, Tenino and Oakville, WA and graduated from Rochester High School in 1939.

After graduation, Jim moved to West Seattle where he met his future wife, Doris Adams. They were married in West Seattle in 1942 and celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in May 2012. They lived in West Seattle until August 2012 when they moved to Marysville, WA.

Jim worked for Todd Shipyards as a machinist during WWII. In 1949, he went to work for The Boeing Company and stayed with them until his retirement in 1982. He enjoyed travel and was able to visit countries on all continents except Antarctiica. He loved his daily morning walk on Alki Beach followed by coffee with friends at Bee’s in West Seattle.

Jim is survived by his wife, Doris; sons, Jim (Pat) of Marysville, WA and Jack (Donna) of Sammamish, WA; four grandchildren, Lisa Jaouiche of Pawleys Island, SC, Eric Lee of Monroe, WA, Megan Lee of Manassas, VA and Sean Lee of Chapel Hill, NC; and six great-granddaughters.
