Since 1941 the Jolly Rogers Motorcycle Club, Seattle has been part of our community, brotherhood, and giving back. On May 17 amazing motorcycles, custom cars and more will converge on the White Center Eagles for the annual Blessing of the Bikes.
It's an annual tradition where riders of motorcycles or bicycles receive a blessing from a priest or religious leader for safety in the upcoming riding season. The ceremony often includes prayers, readings, and the sprinkling of holy water on the bikes. While originally rooted in religious practice, many events today focus more on rider safety than faith, making them inclusive to all participants.
The tradition has spread globally, with blessings held in cities like New York, Los Angeles, Melbourne, and even Rennes, France. Some events also include a memorial service to honor riders who have passed away in the previous year
The Jolly Rogers MC issued a statement saying "Thank you to the White Center Food Bank for allowing us to be a part of making sure local families have food on their table and partnership in the fight against hunger!"
Last year the event raised more than $7000 for the Food Bank.
The White Center Food Bank will be on site at the event to collect canned goods, dry, boxed foods and donations.
The event will also feature a raffle with many prizes to win, including gift baskets and a 50/50 raffle drawing. There will be a car show featuring the E Z Duz It Car Club and a number of vendors on site. The event will also feature a $25 per person Spaghetti dinner at the Eagles.
