Seattle community members have a unique opportunity to engage directly with police personnel on issues of crime and public safety through the Seattle Police Department's (SPD) Micro-Community Policing Plans (MCPP) Community-Police Dialogues. These virtual sessions, a collaborative effort between the SPD and the Seattle University Crime & Justice Research Center, are running weekly via Zoom from May through August 2025.
The core purpose of these dialogues is to provide a platform for Seattle residents and police personnel to discuss the results of the 2024 Seattle Public Safety Survey and address real-time 2025 concerns about crime and public safety at both the precinct and micro-community (neighborhood) levels. Unlike the "Before the Badge" dialogues, these MCPP sessions involve a much larger range of SPD personnel and delve into public safety in a more general sense.
Participants in these important discussions include a broad spectrum of Seattle Police personnel, such as recruits, officers, command staff, crime prevention coordinators, community service officers, and administrative professionals, alongside community members. The dialogues are facilitated by the Seattle University MCPP research team.
A key upcoming event is the Southwest Precinct Dialogue, scheduled for August 11, 2025. All dialogue sessions are held on Zoom from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. Everyone who lives and/or works in Seattle is invited to join these important conversations.
To participate, interested individuals can sign up by providing their email and completing a short survey. This email address will be used to send invitations and provide further information regarding participation. Community members are welcome to participate in dialogues for multiple precincts if they live or work in different areas, or are associated with several precincts; this requires signing up separately for each precinct.
A Zoom link will be sent via email prior to the meeting
