King County Metro is daring the public to kick off their weekend with an unforgettable morning of extreme contrast, hosting a FREE and public West Seattle Polar Plunge + Sauna event this Saturday.
Dubbed a "#WhereToMetro rider event", this adventure promises to be bold and seriously refreshing, offering attendees the chance to take a cold dip in the Puget Sound followed immediately by a steamy sauna session to warm back up.
Icy Dip, Cozy Heat
The action is set for Saturday, Oct. 4, from 8–10 a.m. at Seacrest Park. Whether you are a seasoned cold-water swimmer or just curious to try something new, you can take a brisk plunge into the Sound anytime up until 10 a.m.. The necessary step before braving the waters?
Please note: All participants must sign a waiver.
The adventure is all about contrast... first an icy plunge, then cozy heat, and good vibes all around. Immediately following the dip, participants will have access to a hot sauna provided via Hot Rocks Sauna. As an added bonus for plunging into the fun, attendees can also score some Metro swag.
Take the Stress-Free Route
King County Metro encourages participants to let Metro handle the ride, noting that using transit is easier, greener, and way more relaxing.
For travelers coming from downtown, easy access is available via the King County Water Taxi from Pier 50. The first Saturday sailing departs Pier 50 at 8:30 a.m.. Shuttle service is also available via Free Water Taxi shuttle Route 773 (first Saturday trip leaves Alaska Junction at 8:43 a.m.) and Free Water Taxi shuttle Route 775 (first Saturday trip leaves Admiral Junction at 8:40 a.m.). Attendees can also utilize Metro’s Trip Planner to find their best route.
Why Plunge? Because It’s Wild!
Why should you come? Because it’s fun. Because it’s a little wild. And, most importantly, because this is exactly the kind of story you’ll want to tell Monday.
Attendees should be sure to bring essentials to maximize their experience, including a swimsuit + towel, warm, dry clothes, and water shoes or sandals. Organizers highly recommended that plungers also bring a mug of something hot—and, of course, an adventurous spirit
