The West Seattle Junction Harvest Festival concluded its lively celebration on Sunday Oct. 26, having filled the neighborhood streets with music, high-energy performances, and competitive cuisine.
The festive atmosphere began immediately with the Costume Parade. The procession was led in style by the West Seattle High School Marching Band and provided the perfect kick-off to the day. Participants lined up in their festive attire and joined the parade as it wound through the Junction, successfully filling the streets with music, color, and community pride.
Throughout the duration of the festival, families enjoyed many community staples. Attendees found opportunities to explore various activity booths hosted by local businesses and community groups. A popular feature was the sidewalk trick-or-treating all along California Ave. For the youngest visitors, a free kids’ play area, sponsored by Hope Lutheran, was available, featuring cornhole and other games for all ages.

One of the day’s competitive highlights was the Chili Cook-Off. Nine local favorites competed for the title of Best Chili in West Seattle. Those looking to taste-test the competition paid $20, which secured them a flight of chili samples and a voting token to crown their favorite dish. Beyond the intense rivalry, the event served a greater purpose, as all proceeds benefited the West Seattle Food Bank. Ultimately, the intense competition concluded with The Westy Sports and Spirits winning the coveted Best Chili title.

The Pie Eating contest was a messy bit of fun too.

The festival also showcased several exciting performances at the All-Ways Intersection. Rain City Ropeworks, a talented local jump rope team, performed incredible tricks and team routines, successfully bringing high energy to the audience.

A major fan favorite, the Seattle Thrillers, made their anticipated return to the festival. They danced their spooky hearts out during a high-energy tribute to Michael Jackson’s Thriller. Following their dramatic routine, they invited community members to join in the fun.
As the festival drew to a close, local West Seattleite Jack Chandelier provided the perfect musical backdrop, closing out the evening with Halloween House Music. Chandelier offered fun, Halloween themed tunes that were perfect for dancing, people-watching, and soaking in those fall vibes.
