A massive new arrival has shifted the skyline in West Seattle, as the Pacific Titan, the largest floating shear-leg crane now stationed on the U.S. West Coast, was spotted moored just south of Salty’s on Alki this week. Homeported in the Pacific Northwest, the specialized vessel brings an unprecedented level of heavy-lift capacity to the region, establishing a new benchmark for construction and maritime support,.Owned and operated by Stor Kran LLC, the Pacific Titan possesses an astounding 2,000 tons of lifting power via its main hoist, coupled with a towering 330-foot boom,,. This capability significantly reduces reliance on East Coast and overseas assets for major regional projects. The vessel itself measures 400 feet by 100 feet, complete with stabilizing sponsons, making it a prominent sight along the coastline.
The crane was purpose-built for nearshore and inshore construction, offering capacity, reach, and stability rarely available west of the Rockies. According to Stor Kran’s Marine Manager, Norm Mitchell, the vessel was acquired to fulfill the growing need for efficient, high-capacity lifting solutions across commercial and government projects throughout the Pacific Rim. “Bringing the Pacific Titan to the West Coast expands what’s possible for our clients,” Mitchell noted.
