King County Councilmember Teresa Mosqueda has announced an upcoming public forum to provide the West Seattle community with vital updates on the ST3 light rail expansion.
The event, titled "West Seattle Light Rail Forum: Momentum and Updates," is scheduled for Wednesday, April 1st, at the Youngstown Cultural Arts Center.
The forum aims to foster clearer communication between regional leaders and the public as the Sound Transit Board prepares to make "critical decisions" regarding the light rail's future. Joining Councilmember Mosqueda will be a panel of high-level officials, including Sound Transit Boardmember Mayor Katie Wilson, Sound Transit CEO Constantine, Capital Delivery Executive Director Brad Owen, and Seattle City Councilmember Rob Saka.
A primary focus of the evening will be addressing feedback from the community. Sound Transit staff have spent the months following a previous forum in November developing thematic responses to resident questions. "The goal... is to create a digestible document that reflects the full range of questions and feedback we heard from the community," Mosqueda stated in the announcement.
Attendees can expect an interactive session with expanded time for questions and answers. In an effort to ensure all voices are heard, the forum will utilize both written note cards and roaming microphones for live inquiries.
Several prominent local organizations are partnering to elevate the event, including the West Seattle Chamber, West Seattle Junction Association, MLK Labor, and the 34th Legislative District.
