As the community shakes off the winter chill, the West Seattle Nursery is preparing to burst into bloom with its highly anticipated Spring Open House on April 11th. This year’s celebration is more than just a seasonal kickoff; it marks a major milestone for a familiar face and offers a unique opportunity for neighbors to connect with local nature and literature.
The heart of the festivities will be the official launch of Nosegay Gardens, a new small business founded by the nursery’s very own Chelsea. Many regular visitors will recognize Chelsea from her educational videos, and they can now celebrate her transition into becoming Seattle's newest wholesale grower. From 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Chelsea will be available to answer questions and share insights about her new venture’s offerings.
For those looking to inspire the next generation of nature lovers, the nursery is delighted to welcome author Lori Kothe to the Garden Center. From 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Kothe will be signing copies of her picture book, Birds Near My Home in the City by the Sea, providing a perfect gift option for young bird enthusiasts.
The event also emphasizes local conservation by hosting the Washington Bee Atlas. Throughout the day, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, representatives will be onsite to discuss their mission of identifying and mapping the state’s wild bees. It is a call to action for the community, as the organization is actively looking for volunteers to help with this vital ecological work.
Whether you are looking to spruce up your garden, find a new favorite book, or contribute to citizen science, the Spring Open House promises a vibrant day of growth and community connection. Don't miss out on the fun from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
