The vibrant spirit of White Center is set to take center stage this Thursday, April 16, as the Rat City Art Walk officially returns for its 2026 season. From 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, the neighborhood business core will transform into a bustling hub of creativity, featuring more than 80 local artists across 27 different locations.
Held every third Thursday from April through September, this free, community-driven event invites residents and visitors alike to explore local businesses while enjoying a diverse mix of art, music, and food. Attendees can easily identify participating venues by looking for the signature inflatable rats displayed outside each location.
This month’s highlights include massive group shows and interactive community experiences. The Nepantla Cultural Arts Gallery will host the "Sana Sana Healing Art Show," a major exhibition featuring work from 32 different artists. For those looking for a market atmosphere, Mrs. B’s Blooming Art Market will showcase 18 local artists alongside flash tattoos and music curated by DJ StarTropic.
Beyond visual arts, the event offers hands-on activities ranging from rock painting with the Community School of West Seattle to learning mahjong at Patrick’s Café & Bakery. The White Center Library will also partner with the White Center Food Bank for a special cookbook launch accompanied by various art activities.
Music lovers can head to Tim’s Tavern for a no-cover, all-ages show featuring The Dusty 45s with special guests Joe Ross and the Birdwatchers. To encourage exploration, the event has introduced the 2026 Art Walk Passport; visitors who fill it out by visiting multiple locations will have a chance to win prizes.
The celebration continues even after the main walk ends. At 8:00 PM, the "Night Walk" after-party kicks off at 2 Fingers Social, featuring live art, vendors, and a live DJ for the night-owl crowd.
