A new tradition is set to launch for the community as the 1st Annual West Seattle YMCA Golf Tournament prepares to tee off on Friday, September 11, 2026. Running from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., this inaugural event has already captured the attention of local supporters, drawing a packed field of 124 golfers alongside numerous community and business partners.
Golfing with a Purpose
While the competition on the course will bring local players together, the true driving force behind the tournament is its mission as a fundraiser. Proceeds from the event will directly support vital youth and family programs run by the West Seattle YMCA, helping them respond to the pressing needs of the community. Among the key initiatives funded are free swim lessons for children and families who cannot afford them, as well as Camp Colman scholarships for kids who otherwise would not have the opportunity to attend.
Honoring History and Community
Given the significance of the date, the tournament will begin on a respectful and reflective note. Organizers have scheduled a special 9/11 remembrance at 7:15 a.m. as the tournament begins to recognize and honor the lives impacted by September 11, 2001.
As the action moves from the morning rounds to the afternoon, the event will welcome a prominent civic voice. Seattle City Councilmember Rob Saka is scheduled to join the tournament for lunch and deliver remarks at approximately 2:00 p.m..
