For years, Ounces Taproom & Beer Garden at 3809 Delridge Way SW has served as a central gathering place for West Seattle residents. With light rail expansion expected to force a relocation in the coming years, the taproom likely has only one or two Oktoberfests left at its expansive Delridge venue. To mark the occasion, the venue is hosting a three-day, admission-free festival packed with local craft beer, Bavarian traditions, live music, and community activities. The festival grounds welcome visitors of all ages, as well as dogs.
At the bar, guests can choose from over 10 taps of Washington-brewed Oktoberfest beers, alongside cider, seltzer, and non-alcoholic options. The food kitchen offers giant fresh-baked Bavarian pretzels, Oktoberfest dogs, fries, and pretzel-bun smash burgers with beef, chicken, or veggie options. Attendees who pre-order a souvenir stein online for $10 receive a free first drink fill and get to keep the stein for year-round use.
On Friday, October 2, doors open at 3 p.m. with a Stein-o-Clock Happy Hour from 3 to 5 p.m., featuring $6 steins and a $25.99 beer, pretzel, and stein combo deal. Friday evening programming features live accordion music from the Bonnie Birch Trio from 6 to 8 p.m. and a free stein hold competition at 7 p.m..
The celebration continues on Saturday, October 3, beginning at noon with live polka from Oompah Machine from 1 to 4 p.m.. Saturday's event schedule includes a Hammerschlagen contest at 2 p.m., Oktoberfest trivia at 2:30 p.m., stein raise competitions at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., a team boot drinking contest at 3:30 p.m., and a costume contest with prizes at 4 p.m..
The weekend concludes on Sunday, October 4, with Kids Day running from noon to 7 p.m.. Young festivalgoers can participate in pretzel necklace-making, face painting, an Oktoberfest coloring contest, and pumpkin Hammerschlagen.
Sunday also features live tunes from the Smilin’ Scandinavians from 3 to 6 p.m. alongside a final 4 p.m. stein raise. Located just off the Delridge exit of the West Seattle Bridge with free parking behind the building and under the bridge, Ounces invites the neighborhood to raise a stein while this expansive space remains
