As the autumn leaves settle and the winter holidays approach, The Salvation Army White Center is opening its doors to nurture connections, honor local seniors, and bring holiday magic to hundreds of neighborhood families.
Led by Lt. Makda Rodriguera, the local corps is launching a full lineup of community events designed to foster fellowship and support neighbors right at home.
From festive gatherings in the Fellowship Hall to volunteer opportunities that empower local parents, the upcoming schedule offers multiple ways for White Center residents to celebrate and give back.
A Festive Start: Sweaters & Sweets Fundraising Event

The holiday season officially begins with the Sweaters & Sweets Fundraising Event on Saturday, November 14, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. This cozy community gathering serves as a joyful kickoff to the season of giving.
Attendees are invited to gather for delicious treats and seasonal celebration while supporting vital neighborhood programs. Community members can learn more and register for the event online at salarmy.us/sweatersandsweets or by scanning the registration QR code on event flyers.
Honoring Older Adults with Seasonal Luncheons
Connecting community seniors remains a central focus for The Salvation Army White Center this holiday season. Two special luncheons hosted in the Fellowship Hall at 9050 16th Ave SW, Seattle, WA 98106, will provide older adults with an opportunity to gather, enjoy warm meals, and build lasting friendships.

- Senior Thanksgiving Luncheon: Scheduled for November 17 at 10:00 AM, this gathering offers a free celebratory meal for community members ages 55 and older.

- Senior Christmas Luncheon: Taking place on December 8 at 10:00 AM, this festive holiday meal is open to seniors ages 55 and older for a $10 contribution.
Because space is prepared thoughtfully for attendees, registration is required for both luncheons. Local seniors can secure their spot by calling the senior coordinator at 206-717-7464.
Creating Joyful Holiday Memories for 300 Local Families
Beyond festive meals, The Salvation Army White Center is preparing its annual Toy N' Joy Shopping Event, an initiative dedicated to bringing dignity and holiday cheer to local children.
The Toy N' Joy event is designed to assist approximately 300 neighborhood families during the Christmas season. Rather than receiving pre-selected packages, parents and guardians enter a welcoming, store-style setup where they can choose Christmas gifts for their children.
To ensure every family enjoys a dignified and celebratory experience, dedicated volunteers are needed to guide parents through the store, assist with selection, and share in the holiday spirit. Community members interested in making a direct impact can sign up to support families via the Salvation Army Volunteer Site.
Whether attending a luncheon, joining the Sweaters & Sweets celebration, or volunteering to help local families shop for gifts, the White Center community has meaningful opportunities to connect and share warmth throughout the months ahead.
