On Monday June 8, around 3 p.m., in the 13500 block of 8th Northwest, a homeowner interrupted a burglary in progress. She yelled, “Get out!” at a man standing in a hallway. (He was holding a guitar and a pillowcase containing credit cards and jewelery.) In turn, the suspect yelled, “Get out!” to an accomplice before dropping the goods and running north on 8th Northwest. The victim discovered all of the drawers and cupboards in the home had been opened with contents spilled on the floor. Residents living nearby reported seeing an unfamiliar gold American car parked on the street around the time of the burglary. The suspect was Caucasian, aged 18-21, with brown hair, a red baseball cap, a white shirt, and sagging blue jeans.
Early on June 7, a resident of the 300 block of Northwest 94th heard a loud noise. He looked out the window and saw a man sitting inside a vehicle. He got out of the car, sat inside another for a minute, and then tried the door handle of a third before running eastbound. The suspect is a slim white male in his twenties. He had straight, black shoulder-length hair.
A Marysville man isn't sure why he was attacked by four men whom he had been speaking with at a local bar. Early on the morning of June 7, the suspects suddenly turned on him as they stood outside the bar in the 7000 block of 15th Northwest. He was hit and kicked in the head and face and had to be treated by medics. The four suspects, all white males in their twenties, drove off in a “candy orange” colored older-model pickup truck with a toolbox in the bed.
Based on a previous incident, a Ballard mom had the mistaken notion that her 16-year-old son could be arrested for “minor in possession” if he came home intoxicated. So when he arrived home early on June 7, not only hammered but with girlfriend in tow (he planned to take her to his room), mom planted herself in their path and called 911. Though the responding officer couldn't arrest the young man, he did have a heart-to-heart with him and explained that he would be arrested if were stopped while he was drinking. (The girlfriend reportedly decided to call it a night and headed for home before all of the brouhaha.)
When his son came home from school four hours late, cried in his room and was then unresponsive when jostled, dad called 911. The boy was taken to Harborview for treatment. He has a history of drug use and is currently in treatment. No illegal drugs were found in his room.
For the second time in two weeks, a north Ballard teen tried to commit suicide by overdosing on psychedelic mushrooms. (Following the first incident he had been released from a local hospital against the wishes of his parents.) Medics transported the boy to Harborview for treatment and for a mental health evaluation.
