The plan to convert an environmental materials storage area site into a Pickleball court in the middle of Lincoln Park by Seattle Parks and Recreation led to demonstrations against it, serious questions about it, controversy as to why it shouldn't go ahead and most recently, vandalism.

The fencing, signage and stakes that were put in place around the former storage area were taken down by someone over the holidays and have been in disarray ever since. 

Seattle Parks Rachel Schulkin reached via email responded by saying,

"We are repairing the fences this week. 

We are still working on the noise mitigation strategy study related to wildlife in the park.

The project construction will resume in the spring when it’s dry enough to lay asphalt."

A meeting of the Fauntleroy Community Association is set for Jan. 9 at 7pm at the Fauntleroy Schoolhouse.

Andy Sheffer with Seattle Parks will present the most current plans. On Dec. 1 a legal letter was delivered to parks, the mayor and the city attorney's office, noting several violations of laws and policies with regards to this proposed project. 

Schulkin said, "We did not issue a response. It requested to be entered into the public record, and it was."
