The Northwest Wine Academy at South Seattle College (SSC) is set to debut its new collection of student-crafted wines at its Spring 2025 Release event on Saturday, June 7. This event provides a chance for the public to taste the latest vintages produced by students in SSC's Wine Studies program.

The Spring 2025 Release features several new wines, including a 2019 Chardonnay, a 2020 Chardonnay, a 2021 Rosé, and a 2022 Malbec. Notably, the 2022 Malbec recently received a gold medal from the Seattle Wine Awards. The Northwest Wine Academy is Western Washington’s only working and teaching winery, functioning as both a hands-on learning environment for students and a public tasting room.

Community members are invited to join the release event in the Academy's tasting room anytime from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM on June 7. In addition to wine tastings, the event will feature delicious spring-inspired fare available from a food truck hosted by South Seattle College’s Culinary & Pastry Arts program.

The tasting room is generally open Thursday through Saturday from 1–6 PM. Located in West Seattle’s Puget Ridge neighborhood, the Northwest Wine Academy can be found at South Seattle College, 6000 16th Ave SW, West Seattle, WA 98106. It is situated in the north parking lot and is accessed via Entry 1 from 16th Ave SW. On the campus map, the academy is noted as NWA.

For those interested in becoming more involved, the Academy offers a Wine Club with exclusive perks like first access to new releases, priority bottle purchasing, and tasting-room charcuterie pairings. Wine Club members also receive early access to both the fall and spring collections. There are three membership levels available, and interested individuals can learn more or sign up at the Northwest Wine Academy tasting room or online. As part of growing community programming, the Academy also hosts monthly jazz and blues open mic nights.
