The arrival of Total Wine & More has been highly anticipated, with signage going up earlier this year after months of speculation about the store’s timeline. The West Seattle location joins other Washington stores in Interbay, Tukwila, and Bellevue, expanding the retailer’s footprint in the region.
The official grand opening is set for June 4 and will feature a live band and other festivities.
Total Wine & More was founded in 1991 by brothers David and Robert Trone in Claymont, Delaware, originally under the name Liquor World. The company expanded steadily throughout the 1990s, acquiring the Total Beverage chain in 1998, which led to the adoption of its current name.
The retailer grew rapidly, entering Florida in 2005 and California and Arizona in 2007. Today, Total Wine & More operates over 250 stores across the United States, with headquarters in North Bethesda, Maryland. The company has been recognized multiple times as Retailer of the Year by industry publications.
Total Wine & More is known for its large selection of wines, spirits, and beers, as well as its educational programs, tastings, and competitive pricing. The company has faced legal challenges in some states due to its pricing strategies but has continued to expand its footprint.
