Pirates storm Alki Beach kicking off Seafair celebration
The Seattle Seafair Pirates came ashore at Alki Beach to storm the city on June 28, they were met with only token resistance.

The Seafair Pirates came ashore again in the annual "unofficial" inaugural event for Sefair itself as the quintessential Seattle summer celebration. Technically the first Seafair event was June 20 at the Seafair Kickoff Celebration on Pier 62 on the Seattle waterfront when the official launch took place with live music, Seafair Pirates, clowns, exhibitors, and a rugby demo by the Seattle Seawolves.

After the raucous landing King Neptune (Eric Johnson) and Queen Alcyone (Carmen Best) knighted Davy Jones and Captain Kidd and Seattle's Deputy Mayor Greg Wong handed over the keys to the city.

Here in West Seattle up next is West Seattle Summer Fest 2025 happening Friday through Sunday, July 11–13 in the heart of The Junction! It’s a free, three-day street festival packed with:
Live music on two stages (headliners include Reignwolf, Jenn Champion, and New Constellations)
Local vendors and food trucks
Expanded Kids Zone with inflatables and hands-on activities
Beer garden and outdoor dining
Street performers and pop-up art installations
The fun kicks off Friday at 1 PM and runs through Sunday at 5 PM, with extended hours for music and the beer garden on Friday and Saturday nights
Then comes the West Seattle Grand Parade set for Saturday, July 19, 2025, starting at 11:00 AM. It kicks off at California Avenue SW & SW Lander Street and heads south to SW Edmunds Street, right through the heart of The Junction.
It’s the 91st year of this beloved tradition—expect pirates, marching bands, drill teams, and a whole lot of neighborhood pride.

Friday, July 4 – Seafair 4th of July Celebration A full-day family event at Gas Works Park and Lake Union Park, culminating in a spectacular fireworks show over Lake Union.
Saturday, July 26 – Torchlight Run & Parade The “Light Up the Night” 5K run starts at 6 p.m., followed by the Alaska Airlines Seafair Torchlight Parade at 7:30 p.m. along the Seattle waterfront2.
Tuesday, July 29 – Blue Angels Arrival The U.S. Navy Blue Angels arrive in Seattle ahead of their weekend air show performances.
