Panda Express opens with prizes, drums and a crowd

A new Panda Express restaurant opened in Westwood Village, on the east side of the shopping mall next to QFC Grocery on Thursday, Sept. 4 with a grand opening ceremony.

The ribbon cutting done by the West Seattle Chamber of Commerce featured some remarks by Simon Lu, Panda Express Area Coach of Operations. He noted that two more stores are scheduled to open in the Seattle area soon.

The local Japanese drum band Inochi Taiko entertained guests with a live performance. 50% of the pre-tax profits from the first day will be donated to the band.
The first 88 guests in line received a free t-shirt. Guests can sign up for the new Panda Reward program at PandaRewards.com or on the Panda Express mobile app.

New Opening Boosts Job Opportunities
Lu stated that the store is bringing 40 new jobs to the Seattle community and starting pay is $22 an hour. Additionally, Lu expressed gratitude for getting to support local organizations via multiple fundraising opportunities. They emphasized they are still looking for more team members and urged those interested to apply.
The event marks the end of a two year process of remodeling for the former Pet Pros location.
The design is part of the American Chinese “Panda Home” restaurant design. and incorporates traditional Chinese elements, including a moon gate portal, Chinatown-inspired signage, and red lanterns.
The menu features classics like The Original Orange Chicken®, Honey Walnut Shrimp, and Broccoli Beef.
