Spotlight: Jim Page to Grace the Stage
Adding a significant musical highlight to the evening, the Taste of West Seattle is thrilled to announce a performance by acclaimed Seattle folk musician Jim Page. Page is celebrated as "One Of The 50 Most Influential Musicians In Seattle History" by Seattle Met Magazine, a testament to his profound impact on the local music scene.
With a prolific career spanning decades, Jim Page has recorded 24 albums and penned a "mountain of songs". His influence extends beyond the stage, as he notably played a key role in the legalization of busking (street performing) in Seattle in 1974, after it had been outlawed for decades. His global reach is impressive, having toured in 13 countries including the US, Canada, Ireland, the UK, most of northern Europe, and Taiwan. His powerful songwriting has resonated widely, with his songs being covered by renowned artists such as The Doobie Brothers, Christy Moore, Dick Gaughan, Michael Hedges, and Roy Bailey.
The admiration for Jim Page's artistry is widespread, even among musical legends. As Bonnie Raitt eloquently states, "Jim's been writing great topical songs for as long as I can remember, bringing his acute wit and wry humor to a host of subjects that can really use both. In the tradition of Woody and Dylan, he cuts right to the heart with music you actually enjoy listening to. I'm a longtime admirer.”. Folk icon Utah Phillips also lauded him, saying, “If you’re ever going to get the message, this is the messenger to get it from.”
