West Seattle Indivisible is set to host a significant community event, the "Peace For All Rally and Human Banner Project," on Sunday, September 21, 2025. This event, coinciding with the United Nations’ International Day of Peace, aims to gather Seattle residents to advocate for peace at local, national, and global levels.
The highlight of the day will be the formation of a 1000-person "Peace For All" human banner along the West Seattle waterfront on Harbor Ave. SW. Participants will spell out the message with downtown Seattle serving as a backdrop. Drone documentation is planned to memorialize the event for media distribution.
The message will read: PEACE FOR ALL.. spelled out by the people themselves, visible from above.
Each letter requires about 100 people to formulate the letter.
The rally is scheduled to take place from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM at 2130 Harbor Ave SW, West Seattle. This location, described as a "retired" dock yard, is situated just south of Salty’s Restaurant and north of Jack Block Park.
There is on street parking available for about 75 cars; Jack Block Park several spots, but on the south east side of Jack Block is a paved area that will serve an additional availability for another 50+ cars. I’m negotiating with the Port to gain access to one of their lots on Florida SW. Ample signage will be alert folks to options.
Additionally, we have dedicated bike and scooter space. Those traveling from Seattle can utilize the Water Taxi, and there is bus access via the C line, #21 as well as the H line. These options are best used for those able to independently travel the last 1/2 mile to the site.
A diverse lineup of speakers is confirmed to address attendees. Speaker program will start between 10:15- 10:45am.
• Hamdi Mohamad, Port of Seattle Commissioner, will serve as the event's Master of Ceremonies.
• Mayor Bruce Harrell is slated to speak.
• Malou Chavez, Executive Director of the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project, will share insights.
• Reverend Andrew Conley-Holcomb from Admiral UCC will also address the crowd.
• Irene Danysh, Development Officer at Ukrainian Catholic University, is among the distinguished speakers.
West Seattle Indivisible emphasizes a core principle of nonviolent action for all its events, expecting participants to commit to de-escalating any potential confrontations. The organization encourages attendees to "mark their calendars to help send a message of unity to end the global and domestic travesties we witness daily".
Those interested in participating are encouraged to sign up to assist with headcount and organization for the letters. The event also requires numerous volunteers for planning, preparation, and day-of crew roles. Prospective volunteers can learn more by contacting volunteer@westseattleindivisible.com.
