The Bayliner that was the subject of so much attention two weeks ago has been in the parking lot at the Don Armeni Boat Launch, without a trailer ever since the owner of the stolen trailer reclaimed it.

The saga of the 30 foot Bayliner that sank at the Don Armeni Boat Launch two weeks ago will finally come to a kind of closure the week of Oct. 3.
The boat whose story WestsideSeattle.com covered as the story line shifted from misfortune, to mishaps to crime and abandonment will be removed by Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR).
Rachel Schulkin on behalf of SPR said, "We have reached out to the boat owner and he does not want the boat and does not have the resources to have it removed.
The Department of Natural Resources does have a program to deal with derelict vessels (https://dnr.wa.gov/aquatics/recovering-derelict-vessels) and we will be working with the DNR to have the boat removed under this program. Seattle Parks will pay the upfront cost for the removal and then be reimbursed by the DNR. The boat must be posted for 15 days to give the owner a chance to claim/remove it. If after the 15 days he has not claimed/removed it, SPR will take ownership and have the boat taken away and salvaged. We plan to use Global Diving and Salvage to do this work and the work will likely be done during the week of October 3rd after the 15 day notice which will start tomorrow, after we post the boat."
In the meantime one of the people, Dan Hanes, who admitted being involved in the theft of the trailer from Bellevue that was used in the retrieval attempt, had his truck stolen from the Lincoln Towing impound lot on 1st Avenue South after it was towed away at the order of the Seattle Police. He's pursuing a complaint in that regard. The Bellevue Police, according to the trailer owner, a Bellevue business man were said to still be considering charges but nothing has been filed. Hanes for his part has offered to make restitution to the owner for damages done to the trailer but that matter is still under consideration.
