Tree species like the Grand Fir are available for FREE from the City of Seattle.
The Morgan Community Association (MoCA) has announced that Seattle Public Utilities still has a selection of free trees available for city residents. The offer is part of the ongoing Trees for Neighborhoods program, aimed at increasing the city's green canopy.
Bria Blitch, the Trees for Neighborhoods Planting Program Manager, confirmed that several species of trees are still available for planting in personal yards on private property. The street tree planting portion of the program has already concluded for the year.
Residents interested in adding to their personal landscape can choose from a variety of trees, including:
• Grand Fir
• Douglas fir
• Deodar cedar
• Turkish Filbert
• Sawtooth Oak
Those wishing to receive a free tree must apply through the Trees for Neighborhoods program.
For any questions about the program or the available trees, residents are encouraged to contact Bria Blitch, an ISA Certified Arborist with Seattle Public Utilities. She can be reached at bria.blitch@seattle.gov or by phone at 206-327-2434
