The West Seattle peninsula is preparing for a weekend dedicated to connection and civic action as the West Seattle Joiners announce the West Seattle Joiner Jamboree & Film Screening, scheduled for November 7–8, 2025.
For residents seeking to find their purpose or their people locally, these two back-to-back events are designed to spark civic engagement and strengthen local belonging, reinforcing the idea that community is better in person. The unique weekend pairing includes a documentary film screening and a comprehensive community fair.
Friday: Finding Inspiration through Film
The weekend of inspiration begins on Friday, November 7, with a screening of the thought-provoking documentary “Join or Die,” hosted by West Seattle Meaningful Movies. The film explores the critical importance of participating in organizations, clubs, and civic groups, arguing that community connection is key to maintaining a thriving democracy.
Following the documentary, attendees are invited to stay for an engaging audience discussion focused on how local participation can strengthen neighborhoods specifically in West Seattle.
The film screening will be held at the Westside Unitarian Universalist Congregation, located at 7141 California Avenue SW. Doors open at 6:45 PM, the film begins at 7:15 PM, and the discussion is slated to continue until approximately 9:15 PM. Admission to the screening is free, though pre-registration is appreciated.
Saturday: The Joiner Jamboree
The initiative continues on Saturday, November 8, with the West Seattle Joiner Jamboree, described as a vibrant community fair. This event serves as a one-stop opportunity for residents to meet new friends and explore local involvement.
The Jamboree will bring together over 40 local clubs and organizations from both West Seattle and White Center. Groups participating include service organizations, social clubs, creative collectives, and outdoor organizations.
The Saturday event runs from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM and will be held in the Fellowship Hall of St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church, 3050 California Ave SW. Admission is free, although pre-registration is appreciated but not required.
