Schmitz Park Restore, LLC, (SPR) is proud to announce the receipt of its first grant from Seattle’s own PEACH Foundation, marking a significant milestone in our mission to restore Schmitz Park and reconnect it to the local community and the greater Seattle area through education and ecological renewal.
This early and generous support from the PEACH Foundation — founded by a member of Seattle’s renowned Bullitt family of the Bullitt Foundation — underscores the growing commitment among local institutions to protect and revitalize one of Seattle’s most historic natural spaces.
The grant will help advance Schmitz Park Restore’s ongoing efforts to rehabilitate the park’s ecosystems, reconnect Schmitz Creek to Alki Beach, and ultimately revive the park’s once-thriving salmon run. Through community engagement, volunteer opportunities, and environmental education, SPR is working to ensure that Schmitz Park continues to be a living legacy for generations to come.
“We are deeply grateful to the PEACH Foundation for believing in our vision,” said Daniel Nye, President of the Board of Directors for Schmitz Park Restore. “This support empowers us to take crucial steps toward restoring the health and connectivity of Schmitz Park’s ecosystem — and to reintroduce salmon to these historic waters.”
